What's new?
Where has she been, you might ask? Ravelry, in short. I'm obsessed. The House Cup has been eating up my free time, even when nothing is happening. Scary.

So what's new? I'm working my way through the Sunrise Circle jacket/cardigan. It looks beautiful. I'm using Rowan Soft Lux in purple. I should have gone with the white, but the purple looks good too.

I have completed all the assignments for the aforementioned House Cup. Potions was tricky, but I got through it. And of course I can't enter charms, being the Professor *puts of professor hat* I like being the professor :D

The big news is that I am taking my first tentative steps into lace design. I am working on a shawl called Alberich (look up Exile's Honour by Mercedes Lackey if this name is new to you). Sun-in-glory in the middle, Kantor running around the next row, then a row of swords facing outward (think bodyguards protecting Selenay). I like the idea and I have finished the chart for Kantor, but I need to test knit the charts individually before I start messing around with numbers. Detail is tricky in lace, I think. At least, it is when the pattern isn't there in front of you.

For the chart, version 1 is in colour. I thought it would be easier than trying to get to grips with chart symbols before I was even sure if it would work. Tricky to see properly in a photo, but I don't really want you to see detail yet anyway. I'll computerise it when I'm done.

sounds like it will be a lovely bit of lace when you are finished.

I hope so. I'm almost afraid to start test knitting in case it doesn't turn out right :D
